Going to Vegas

J: Once we hit town, since check in isn’t until 4, we can hit Costco for the stuff we’ll need that week. If I understand that map, at least of them is fairly close to the condo.

Me: Your Costco worship is crazy mad. But sure. :)

J: Blasphemer.

Me: Good thing Costco hasn’t got the Ikea route yet. I can image you’d jump on the chance for a Costco apartment or hotel room.

J: You will burn in Big Lots for that.

Me: Why are you going to burn down Big Lots? You like Big Lots.

J: I couldn’t think of a better alternative store for hell. Work with me here.

Repetition – Things I’ve Learned About Finance

I’ve begun adding more reps to my Wii Fit strength training exercise. It’s something you unlock as you go, but you have to choose them to do more. Today I started choosing the higher reps I’ve unlocked…I did fairly well. I’m still on only six reps for side planks…those are hard.

Midway through the exercise this morning, J. decided to use the pug as a tickling device. I fell over and the poor traumatized pug sat on me. Needless to say I got zero points for that exercise.

A lot of us are having financial problems at the moment. I thought I’d repeat something that most finance experts tell you..but generally get ignored. I ignored them. I thought I didn’t have the money to do these things. Then last year I started doing them on a fluke.

  • Pay yourself first: Figure out what you can take out of every check before you do anything. If all it is is 50 cents…fine, do it. Then put it away.
  • Make a donation to some non-profit every year. Make the donation at least worth $250 dollars. That’s when the donation really begins to count.

So while I’m not financier or anything…these are two tips that really have helped. So there you go.

Vegas 2007 – The Wall Trip

In October we headed to Vegas for a few days. We laid low, ate some incredible food at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, and saw O at the Bellagio. That was incredible too. We spent a day at the shooting range too.

First there was the airport. This advertisement is projected at the wall…and the people mover around. It freaks me out.

At the shooting range J. tried out a .50 gun. The thing actually had a shock wave. There was a shooting limit of 4 times.

Mostly J. played video games during the day:

I spent some time wandering around hotels. The Aladdin/Planet Hollywood:

They have that cool indoor rainstorm. And a wall of welcome:

New York, New York was interesting:

Across from that was some kind of candyland…I avoided like plague.

Here’s the New York, New York from the Paris…where we stayed. It was cold when I started out…by the time I walked there I was dying of heat.

More inside New York, New York:

Vegas is actually a lot like Pheonix…only less icky in a stogy way. Vegas icky doesn’t start till day 4:

After New York, New York I headed to the MGM Grand. It’s old and has some weird things in it, like animatronic animals and real lions. The kaleidescope was cool.

Didn’t make it to the Excalibur this time, but I got a shot:

Back at the Paris there is a twisty street exit from the pool. Every door had two not so helpful signs:

The Bellagio fountain is always cool:

The little statue of Liberty…that means there’s three in the world right?

The Aladdin/PH has some nice lights:

MGM Grand, however, has some impressive gold lions, real and fake:

The inside of the New York New York is a like a mini city with a small park. There is even river. But nothing beats the wall of meat.

More Aladdin/PH, I walked the whole mile of shops:

We did not eat there but there is an Italian restaurant behind Bally’s and whatever the one next to it is called now. We pretty much did our own thing this time…J. wasn’t too keen on keeping up with his friends, so we only went by to say hi. The restaurant has the wall of the minis:

MGM also has the wall of saki:

You can get anything in vegas…including cool car rental:

Vegas is pretty dirty during the day…at night…it’s very pretty:

The Eiffel Tower restaurant has incredible food. The best I’ve every had…it hurts the wallet to think about it. The waitress took our picture.

And finally the wall of TV and the Wall of Wine. J. had envy issues.

Cat has pictures in her gallery.

Tick, Tock

Slowly things have shapes. I have a lot of cleaning todo. Tonight’s agenda consists of a box run, dinner cooking, bill paying and Aia room cleaning. That’s the goal…reality will probably fall in between.

My TV works…so do the Nintendo’s and the playstation…though one has it’s games in another box and the other has it’s controllers in another box. I’ve got things to move…then I need to hire a cleaning service. Tomorrow is the Bab5 night. That will be a restful night…then I have box runs and cleanings Thursday and Friday.

The cats have already figured out how to tease Dagny. Whinnie isn’t phase by the return of the cats at all. Gracie Goose has decided she likes J.’s lap even though he doesn’t like cats.

The routine is already there…I’ve been at J.’s nearly every weekend for almost two years. Now that I’m there every day…it doesn’t feel different. Just more comfy.

More reasons to hate Internet Explorer…Random Refusal

So this weekend entailed a lot of moving…and more moving. We are officially living with J. now. Though now comes the extra cleansing of his house and the rearranging of the furniture…and the unpacking….

Mom helped…and gave me more than one headache, a smashed hand and a renewed gladness she lives out of state.

Sigh…then today I found out that IE sucks even more than other versions of IE. It has problems with objects.

If you’re using Firefox you can see that little video down below….if you used IE before I fixed it earlier you got this:

For the love of god, gods, goddesses and/or fucking anything…use Firefox.

It’s not that I don’t want to…

Sigh.

If you’ve noticed…I’ve absorbed my articles and recipes into this blog. I’ve got some formating left to got…then some painting and the new site will be all.

Of course all creative efforts are at a standstill until after I move. No painting, no writing (except module writing) no sewing, no meditation, no real exercise, no tarot readings…

Suck.

The overwhelmed feeling is not going away. We still don’t have J.’s house cleaned as much as I would like. We are going to have to clean out from under his bead and vacuum. The down stairs is going to require that we stack stuff around the bar…

And my house is barely packed. I’ve managed to bring over my nightstands, one of Aia’s chairs and her tv stuff. All my linen is at J.’s now.

And yet…

I’m struggling with where to put stuff. The living room is easy…the hall, easy…the bedroom is not so much. I have a need to put my pagan stuff up but where…

sigh. This shouldn’t be so hard, but I’m moving fast because I have help now…I won’t have help later. Not that my friends wouldn’t help but their schedules were long set before I decided to move and I can’t expect them to rearrange for me. You’ve all offered when you can, I’m eternally grateful for that, but don’t worry if you can’t. I just expect you all to show to the Halloween party. ;)

I’m worried about J. His back has gotten worse over the last two years. Recently he hurt it worse and it is not getting better. I don’t resent that he can’t and shouldn’t help with the heavy stuff. I just wish I could help him.

I’m sure you’re all getting tired of the whining. If there is one thing about me you should know is that I have to talk everything out. Every detail otherwise I: a)forget, b)can’t sleep at night. So if it is continuously coming out of my mouth…I don’t do it to annoy people or to garner sympathy but because I have to get it out of me.

It’s like psychic puking only not so much.
