God The Ultimate Autobiography by Jeremy Pascall

I found this book originally in my high school library. It is a satirical story of G– telling the reader what really happened in Genesis. With footnotes of an overly sober editor trying to make sense of what he says. My current copy came from a friend.

More cute than factual the rantings of an unknowable G– who threatens the reader as he reads, renames things on the fly and frankly got board with us a long time ago give the account of Genesis a comical feel. Pascall pairs this with the footnote who treats G– like an errant child.

It’s a fun, quick read. It is illustrated by Kathrine Lamb, whose drawing comment on the text as well. I read it again every couple years for a laugh.

The Light Fantastic by Terry Prachett

The Light Fantastic by Terry Prachett continues the adventures of Rincewind and Twoflower as they are falling off the side of the Discworld.

But then the universe right itself.

This tale of going home was a lot of fun to read. I really loved the theme…and now I’m gushing over stuff I can’t say cause it’ll ruin it.

Go read the damn book already.

101 Ways to Avoid Reincarnation: Or, Getting It Right the First Time by Hester Mundis

This quirky little book by Hester Mundis starts out funny. Though it is still available new, you should be able to find it in your local used book store. Hester has a sarcastic style that even Pagans can get a good laugh from. I found the book to be quite fun. There’s a but.

By item 40 I found myself looking more at the little cartoons spattered through out the book than the text. When it comes down to it, 90 of the 101 items are basically junk according to Hester. It is easy to get tired of her style. However as one person pointed out, the book really isn’t meant for those that believe in this stuff. The book ends on a downer. Instead of a good zing at the end, item 101 is a lame one liner in the flavor of the rest of the book. By that time I was not only tired of it but I found myself going, “Ha ha, blah.” My advice: pick it up used and don’t read it all at one go. Instead read one or two every couple months.
