Oh My God My Butt Hurts

Snot has died. This is depressing on a lot of levels. He and Puke have been a mainstay of my Ren Fair going for many years. We got to see one of (if not his last) show here in Colorado. I happened to have recorded it. Really glad I bought that camera.

My Wii Fit regimen has been 1 hour 3 days a week. 30 min of strength or yoga, then 30 min of cardio…usually free step. And my butt hurts. And my leg. owoowowowowowo.

But bitching aside…the diet is working…four days and it works. I’ve lost 7 lbs so far this week. 7. If I make at this pace I will reach my next before doctor goal by Tacticon.

Tonight I’m running Greyhawk. I’m a sorry SOB that gives in to begging but he sounded so pitiful. I’m even sorry I can’t be more flexible about it. Greyhawk is almost over. Should be interesting.

Last Weekend, Steamboat, and the Future!

The 4th went well. We saw a spectacular show in Arvada. The kids were out by the end. All and all we had a good time and didn’t get too burned. I’ll post more of those pictures later.

J. and I saw Hancock…which I actually liked. Then we had reclett, a Swiss version of Korean BBQ. It include pickles and special cheese and is pretty good. Then the latest kidney stone hit. Blah. I gushed a lot of blood due to stupid nurses. Finally a half-ninja nurse showed up and did it right. But one of the stupid nurses came back later and messed it up. She gave me too much medication and really put me out.

Mom helped with Aia’s room and the swing. Aia’s room looks much better. I had intended to help more but I was still pretty medicated and slept most of the day. We ended at diet breaking Beaujeau’s but that’s okay…I’m still loosing.

Since getting the Wii Fit, I’ve been doing more yoga. Every time I do a pose I’ve never done before… I shake loose a kidney stone. Considering yoga is supposed to squeeze out impurities, I guess that’s a good thing.

One of the things we did in Steamboat were the Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Trust me here, skip the downtown Steamboat Hot Springs and drive up to Strawberry Park. It’s beautiful, and a lot less crowded.

The pools are fed from hot springs waterfalls. They drain into the river.

If you head over to 78 Images LaterHome of free tarot readings, you’ll note the site is changing. I still have some tweaking to do and I’m working on a new dragon logo, that will also be on this site.

I’ll probably change this site’s domain. We’ll see. I’m still on the fence.

I’ve been working in Vue and on in tarot images. I’ve completed a new image as well:

Wii Fit: Avanced Exercises

I’ve just about unlocked all the unique exercises. Today I decided to do Advanced Step for my Aerobics…in doing so I unlocked Free Step.

Free Step is simple and yet pretty neat. You choose 10, 20 or 30 minutes. Then they give you a step goal and you go. The sound is all handled through the Wiimote. Wii Fit encourages to watch tv or a movie while you do this…the screen will count your steps and time but even if you change the channel, the Wiimote keeps the beat and the encouragement up. You can change how fast the beat is and from two rhythms, a voice or nothing.

By the end I had a mild sweat and heart beat going but it felt good (I did 20 minutes). Then with five minutes left I did some of the boxing. Finally I had 1 minute left…I decided to do a balance game since I hadn’t for quite a while. I’ve unlocked all of those right away but the last one I had not tried yet.

Its Meditation! They give you a candle to concentrate on and you have sit still. Just like in real life (assuming your real life is like mine with a noisy kid, animals and an SO that thinks meditation is for pinko-commie-hippy-nutjobs) people walk around you, bugs fly in and doors slam. Your job is to hold still, breath and watch the pretty flame. I made it 86 seconds.

Repetition – Things I’ve Learned About Finance

I’ve begun adding more reps to my Wii Fit strength training exercise. It’s something you unlock as you go, but you have to choose them to do more. Today I started choosing the higher reps I’ve unlocked…I did fairly well. I’m still on only six reps for side planks…those are hard.

Midway through the exercise this morning, J. decided to use the pug as a tickling device. I fell over and the poor traumatized pug sat on me. Needless to say I got zero points for that exercise.

A lot of us are having financial problems at the moment. I thought I’d repeat something that most finance experts tell you..but generally get ignored. I ignored them. I thought I didn’t have the money to do these things. Then last year I started doing them on a fluke.

  • Pay yourself first: Figure out what you can take out of every check before you do anything. If all it is is 50 cents…fine, do it. Then put it away.
  • Make a donation to some non-profit every year. Make the donation at least worth $250 dollars. That’s when the donation really begins to count.

So while I’m not financier or anything…these are two tips that really have helped. So there you go.

More Wii Fit

Despite being derailed by kidney stones this weekend…I did manage to get on with the Wii Fit._,___

You release new games and exercises by the time you spend exercising, not how good you are. That’s a relief because I do the step aerobics like a pixie on percacet…all tripping and confusion and the screaming. It isn’t pleasant. Fun, but silly. After missing for four days the Wii Fit board told me that it missed me…which was nice…then told me that I won’t loose weight not exercising for so long. I did mange to loose .5lbs in those four days. That’s good. Of course we registered my daughter too and you can see her chart compared to mine.

Besides unlocking new games and exercises you also unlock reps and advancements. I managed to get to 10-30 reps unlocked on each strength exercise. The emphasis is on form though and the balance board uses meters that you have balance on to make sure you have it right. The trainer on the yoga and strength exercises will talk you through everything every time and use a whistle so you don’t have to look at the screen. The running is differently every time.

The board does not have to face the screen or be a certain distance away. That’s good because I have very little room. I move the board to where it needs to be for each exercise. There is a demo for each of the strength and yoga poses…but you only see automatically the first time. After that you have to choose demo if you forgot what you’re doing.

The body test ends with a balance tests. Two actually that the game chooses randomly each time. Yesterday I did the step in place one for the first time. I walk pretty good. :)

I’ve started keeping my yoga blocks out for the yoga poses since I still can’t bend to full advance. I put the matt on the floor as well. All in all it’s working pretty good.

Oh…Wii uses a Fit age indicator (the same as Wii Play) but it means diddly. It’s based on your actual age and how you do on the balance tests. So far I’ve been 51, 26, and 25…it really doesn’t seem to mean much at all.
