I read the book after seeing the movie. I really liked the movie and thought the edit was well done.
Especially after reading the book.
They could have gone as far as The Watchmen or Kick Ass. I’m so glad they didn’t. Toning down the violence was a good choice. I still cared. I still cried. I wasn’t left with a feeling of pure revulsion.
The book was well written. I squirmed a bit at the part about the Capitol city accent. I cared more for Peeta in the book than the movie.
Katniss’ journey through different modes of survival is fairly gripping. She has no safe place in this world and less by the time it’s over. Of course, it’s never over.
To say I really liked this book is an understatement.
