Andre Norton’s Witch World is a tale of man out of time, Simon who become a guard of the Estcarp…a nation ruled by witches. He become embroiled in a war of alien new comers in the midst of social upheaval.
There is so much going on in this book and we only hear of most of it. The love affairs are sudden and the magic is only barely explained.
Over all the book was quick paced. I found my self loving the little slow scene in which life itself took place rather than the info dump battles. The world is too unformed for me in this book. I wanted to see more of life rather than battle after battle. I’m not sure that anything was truly discovered by the main characters. Even the event of gender bending wasn’t adequately dealt with.
I like the book but I’ll have to read more of the series and reserve total judgment.
